Mission & Values

Our Mission

The Roman Catholic Society of Medicine exists to support healthcare professionals and students in integrating the truths of the Catholic faith with the practice of medicine.

We seek to promote excellence in healthcare, fidelity to Catholic moral teaching, professional fellowship, lifelong learning, and service to those entrusted to our care.

Under the patronage of St Raphael the Archangel, we strive to uphold the dignity of every human person from conception to natural death and to witness to Christ through compassionate medical practice.

Our Values

Faith

We affirm the teachings of the Catholic Church and seek to place Christ at the centre of our professional and personal lives.

Human Dignity

We recognise every person as created in the image and likeness of God, possessing inherent dignity and deserving of compassionate care.

Professional Excellence

We encourage the highest standards of clinical practice, scholarship, integrity, and lifelong learning.

Service

We are called to serve patients, colleagues, and communities with charity, humility, and generosity.

Fellowship

We foster a supportive community where healthcare professionals and students can grow in faith, friendship, and professional vocation.

Ethical Practice

We promote medical practice guided by sound science, moral truth, and the ethical principles of the Catholic tradition.

Stewardship

We seek to use our knowledge, skills, and resources responsibly for the common good.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
— Matthew 25:40
